>>>>> Samsung Electronics embarked on developing 3G original chip (project name: SCom 5000) in 2000 and commercialized it in three years, it announced on Mar. 31

Where did they announced it?

Until official notification, this is nothing more than he said, she said, they said ...

I have no idea if they have a cdma 2000 rf chip or if it's a good chip, but it is obvious that folks are reporting on this matter without solid evidence of the goods. The release that I posted way back when pointed to a Samsung press release of March 31st. The only March 31st release I could find was about flash memory used in camera phones. If the "original" chip has been announced, it makes more sense, that is the chip, rather than an RF chip. Other folks (ie author and ML analyst) were the ones to "imply" it was an RF chip.

This sounds more like stealthy competitor bashing (i.e. emperor has no clothes) rather than slowly opening a kimono. I'll wait and see.

ps Even if there is a cdma rf chip, the news folks are trending on thin ice the way they are reporting this matter.

pss The fact that anyone has been work on a cdma chip for three years means nothing given the history of failed cdma successes.

psss If this is yet another roost, how liable is the ML analyst? Dow Jones has covered their assets with the words "according to sources close to the situation". Whatever that means?

{eom ... let's wait till Friday}.
