"Somehow those guys manage to walk away from crashes at 200 mph even being belted in"

Without intersections their chance of being hit by a side force is minimal in comparison to the chance of running into something in front of them. As a racing driver I would wear a belt. The chance of me running into something in city driving at greater than 5 MPH is minimal compared to the chance that someone will run into me from the side at 30. I won't wear a seatbelt in the city. There is no good reason to put my life into the hands of chance. No good reason at all.
