I see your point, but shouldn't the author have noted that this was a temporary fix to find out why things weren't working? I don't see any red flags on that website that state this is a dangerous move. You are more computer savvy than most people - the average-joes (me) just follow directions. As I said before, I didn't think there was a problem with disabling it because I had the router firewall which you have now pointed out as not being enough.

Why are file and print sharing "the most dangerous things to enable on your computer"? Don't most people who have small home networks do this? I'm just thinking that I really don't need to share printers anymore since I have one on each computer - I guess I should disable the print share if I'm not using it. As far as file sharing, I really need to use this option.
