Jimmy Carter tried playing foreign relations Lizzie's way.

And we got the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the Iran hostage crisis.

Clinton also tried playing foreign relations Lizzie's way.

Results? We got the bombing of the embassies in Africa, the bombing of the Cole, the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, and the planning by al qaeda that led up to Sept 11. We also got the situation in Kosovo, where over 10,000 people were killed while Europe and the UN did nothing.

In international relaions, it is much better to be feared than to be loved. Sad but true.

Look for further intl relations victories for Bush. It flows naturally from this superb show of strength, balanced by temperance and restraint, in Iraq.

The world respects strength. Ronald Reagan knew that. Apparently Bush knows that too.
