Is Syria next on the list? Could be. A very bad move, though, I think. Syria has not signed the Chemical Weapons Convention. However, Syria says that it has no chemical weapons. Why not sign, then? Syria says that it remains open to a settlement with Israel but only if it gets the whole of the Golan Heights back, which it lost in the 1967 war. Less chance than that of a snowball in h**l. Israel had good reason for taking that land: Syria had used it for years to lob artillery into Israel.
