I have found that usually even the scariest liberals (hippie types) turn out to be quite pleasant if you get to know them better. OTOH, even the most pleasant conservatives (well-groomed types) usually turn out to be quite scary if you get to know them better.

What, so when you meet a person you immediately ask them their political affiliation?

Interesting take. I just realized I've never even bothered to try and find out what political leanings the people I have been around have, (or to try and figure it out without asking). Occasionally it becomes obvious, but as a general rule that only happens when the person is over the edge on either side. Tim Robbins is a good recent example, I think he's a good actor, and up until yesterday I had no idea what his political viewpoint was. Nor did I care. From his comments yesterday, it appears to me that he's probably hiding under some table most of the time waiting for the Republicans to come and murder his family. Too bad for him IMHO, he should be happy, he's got a healthy happy family and he lives in the greatest country on earth.

I didn't realize that everyone wore ID badges indicating
their political persuasion ;-)

Funny thing. I've had the pleasure to travel extensively
from almost every state from TX, IL eastward. I've met
countless thousands of individuals. None of them identified
themselves as liberals or conservatives as a matter of
course.

And by far, a vast majority of them were pleasant.

Did I just happen to meet liberals extensively by
coincidence?

And how do you explain that on SI, liberals consistently
seem to be so hateful, spiteful, mean spirited &
underhanded?

Stands to reason. Liberals blow with the wind. Conservatives have strong positions.
