In the elections we supervised, we allowed anyone except fascists to run, and anyone except fascists and communists to win.
...

If you define "democratic" as "the will of the people". After WWII, local Communist parties in Greece, Italy, and France, and possibly elsewhere, might have won elections, if not for the U.S. Army.

And a good thing, too.

There's absolutely no reason those on the side of modernity and democracy should give a break to those who want one man, one vote, one time. They are the enemy we had to fight in WW2 and the Cold War and who we have to fight now in this new war.

There are those in Iraq who had the one man one vote one time system work in their favour, and others who would now like it to work in their favour. There's no reason to squander the advance in Iraq by giving them any breaks.

You have gone the extra mile in your logic and arrived at an absurdity. You apparently desire the US effort to have a meaningless result and that is failure.
