i've always been a Cubs fan; grew up in the NW suburbs (Palatine) listening to Jack Brickhouse call day games on WGN when i got home from school.

i'm just more of a fair-weather fan now as i've long since moved to Boston and have become a (obviously over-zealous) Red Sox nut.

the Cubs are good. anybody would KILL for that pitching staff. they are likely still a bat away from contending, but in a league where really all the teams are flawed they could sneak into the playoffs. and god knows you don't want to play the Cubs in a short series w/ Wood and Prior looming.

baseball is awesome this year. the collection of young power arms out there is like no time i can remember. recalls 1985-86 when i got to watch Doc Gooden and Clemens run out there every 5th day, plus Saberhagen, Hershiser and Mike Scott in their early days.

Cheers
