Hi RD, <<The mayor of my old home town in Illinois is faced with a dying manufacturing base in our town>>

I have a friend in Rockford Il, he runs a bunch of businesses, including a basic manufacturer. He reports an unstoppable disaster in rapid and accelerating progress. I listen completely, half understand, and am totally alarmed.

<<... the rich folks in town who don't think it is appropriate for people who can't afford to have their own private library to suck off the teat of the rich>>

... I can understand that point of view.

<<Just let me know when Hong Kong is going to create the tax base to create infrastructure projects>>

... this is where the politics come in. I am hoping that HK does not destroy the tax base in order to finance its infrastructure projects: Disney World, Rapid Rail, new container terminals. But I do welcome the new passenger ferry terminal to be put near my neighborhood, enabling me to boat to the Central business district half way around the island, and to bring in the tourists over to my side, thus increasing my property value. Oops, that makes me a heartlessly selfish republican/tory in a allegedly communist country ;0)

Chugs, Jay
