<a stable USA> is exactly what is not the case at this moment, traditional checks and balances
lost, domestic fear and economic problems easy to abuse and manipulate.

One aspect is "the lack of continuity", policies and agreements can and usually change
in just one 2-party election day, often in somewhat unexpected ways.
(additionally not much can be achieved for one year before the elections, nor one year
after when the other party won, and then it is time to start the propaganda machine
for the next election)

Yes, good old isolationism got a double-knockout, except for some.

Well, economically the recovery is not yet clear, although some modern colonial
empire would clearly be a solution, especially if oil would once again drop to some
$10-15 due to a lot of $4-5 oil. (Bush Sr was really angry at some republican thingy
during the second Clinton election, as he did not get the thanks for that)

However, one solution might be to employ soldiers from other nations as well as
much more cash for the military industry, but that is already an old idea.
