The best way I can summarize is, "cart before the horse".

The American lesson belies this. Jefferson declared 'all men are created equal' from nothing. In the beginning was the word.

The Brits know what was involved. IMHO, Americans are kids in a major league game.

America is the game!

The Brits don't have any living memory left of Administration, no doubt. Yet you can say that they "know what is involved." How is it that the Brits can "know" from secondary sources, but Americans, or anyone for that matter, can't? Great thing about being human, we can transmit knowledge across generations.
