Searle, Sounds like you need to go to a satellite modem. Since I live out in the country I could not get a fast internet connection, and the phone system left a lot to be desired. I had the same problems that you are talking about. I invested in a satellite modem, and I love it. The cost was not much more than a Cable modem or DSL, but you have to buy the equipment. It has two way communication, so you do not need any other connection. Do not know if it is available in Africa, but it would sure solve your problem. When I test the speed, the download is almost at the speed of a T-1. The upload speeds are a little slower, and there is a slight delay prior to loading a page, but it is nothing serious. Terry
