res-Go for it, talk about US influence to curb a war - be my guest.

Why bother, it's self evident. Forces from the worlds only superpower have kept the peace all over the planet for the better part of 50 years.

America's foreign policy can be summed up, not by being the worlds policemen, but by being the worlds garbage cleaners. When a mess gets big enough, the U.S. comes in to clean it up so future generations of earth citizens don't get handed too much ugliness. When talk of making a mess gets loud enough, America sometimes has too remind other nations who has primary responsibility for world cleanliness.

Thankfully, India and Pakistan's teenage squabbling hasn't messed up planet earth big enough. I sincerely hope they keep their room clean and work out their problems peacefully. :)
