Hi Kaliico, thank you, thank you, thank you for posting that article on how to disable Windows Messenger Service !

I spent 2 hours yesterday attempting to do just that with mixed results.

1. I enabled the Internet Firewall Connection as suggested by Microsoft. That didn't work.

2. I went into the Messenger Service Program -- went to "Tools -> Options -> Preferences" and selected "Do not start automatically, also suggested by Microsoft. THAT DIDN'T WORK EITHER.

3. I looked for some place that allowed me to control startup programs. Msconfig let me de-select Messenger Service but at startup it warned me that I was starting up in diagnostic mode.

4. I searched through the Registry (using regedit) looking for anything that remotely resembled an area that managed programs at startup. Couldn't find it.

So thanks !! (and my kids thank you too, lol)
