I'm just contemplating this whole idea of America as Babylon and the GOP as inherently evil. It would, indeed, be a great deception, but there are still a few problems. It seems it would be, at least for quite awhile, only a deception OF America as well. What happens to the Muslims, the Chinese, the Russians, etc.? Do they worship the beast strictly out of fear? What about America's current financial woes? How can she remain so strong to threaten the entire world if we are about to have a financial calamity, which is likely? If the antichrist comes from Babylon, who is it? Who destroys Babylon in an hour? Bush has been pretty explicit about his acceptance of Jesus. It is hard to imagine that behind closed doors he snickers at the "stupid Christians". If this is the deception, I can see him simply being fooled into believing he is "called by God" to take over the whole world in the name of Democracy, God, and Safety from Terrorists. But then, is there enough financial strength to do this?

Biggest clues will be when someone guarantees Israel's safety for a seven-year period. If we see that, then it's "goodbye rapture", "hello tribulation".

I remain,
