You are probably right and I will defer to your experience.

One thing for sure is that neither the world nor the US cannot afford to leave Iraq and let the only organized group with numbers, the Shiites, take over and create a theocracy.

Building a democracy in Iraq is a goal that will make the world safer. I'd like to have more confidence in the UN and turn it over to them. I don't see a lot of favorable history for the UN, just a lot of "not bads."

Can the US do it? Time will tell and I realize that our history leads to arguments both ways also.

PS - not quite the reason for my original post to the moderate who claims that things for Iraqis are worse after the war than under Saddam.
