True a reduction in wealth production by about a trillion dollars a year would have an impact on US willingness to carry our current defense burden but that takes a lot of doing. 9/11 didn't even come close. Also if terrorists where causing that much damage and disruption then there would also be a push to increase the % going to defense spending.

Imagine if the world got hit by a meteor. Imagine if.....??? There are lots of things that can happen, OMD. But we have enough problems with what is really happening. Why look for trouble?

Yes, another Great Depression like we had in the 1930's would have a real impact on the U.S.' ability to project power around the world.

The impact on the US military would be the least of the problems. This would also be a worldwide depression and affect nearly all counties.

Al Qaeda might enjoy this, but you and I would not.
