It's certainly great for US economic growth that most states

are going belly up. Too bad they can't print money to cover the rubber checks, which of course means cut programs and hiked taxes - neither of which is likely to help household or business spending.

Hard-right conservatives are DEAD in California. Never to rise again any time soon. The GOP in California is unfortunately cointrolled by far righties. But swing-voters in California demand compassionate leaders and balanced views and want the environment protected. When the GOP brushed off Riordan they lost their chance. They also lost their chance by cheering on the Texas Gang of Bushie Enrons who looted this state of 20 billion in 2000-2001. Kerry won't even have to campaign in California. It's solidly in democratic control, despite Grey Davis's budget problems. Besides, GOP governors around the country have the same type problems. Problems which start at the top, in DC that is. A thorough house-cleaning for the GOP in 2004. Out with the hard right, in with the moderates. And most of those moderates will be Democrats.
