Hello Jay, good afternoon (mideuropean time)

Had a younger colleague come in and he's just worried stiff, can't get a flat for himself and her and a 14years old dog. "No dogs" everywhere. He could handle that. But what he gets to hear is more and more "no kids, OK". He was simply at a loss for words. "Who'll pay for my pension..." And he's - what? - early thirties.

I mentioned 1933 and FDR and "what we got to fear etc...", told him, he's got the whole world at his feet (in the positive sense pls), and told him to see it as a lot of fun, if he would need to work until 70 etc etc. And that for US it's a piece of cake - just let "the arm and opressed..." etc come over. Funny, do you know where the Statue of Liberty is coming from, oh never mind...

Probably he just wanted to spit it out... btw he dropped in, because I sent a mail around asking for some books I was missing. He had my Mythical Man-Month. I guess it's still unread - they'll never learn (sigh).

What kind of a world is this, where people of his age worry that much.

EDIT - I see the Told-you-sos and Smarter-than-thous reach for their keyboards. Some people just don't know how to listen to music with mouth (wide?) shut.
