Mythical Man-Month is a great book for anyone working on large projects. Sorry your younger friend has trouble getting a flat. Might try some of the local dog owner or dog breeder organizations - they might know of dog friendly landlords. Younger colleage needs to understand that the sky has always been falling...

I do not feel right and honorable, as I walk about Hong Kong dressed in black sport shirt, pondering on falling real estate prices, contemplating dropping stock valuations, meditating weightier debt burdens, conceptualizing dimming earnings prospects, and thinking about the looting possibilities that will be. Ooh, and look at that silky-mane and well-dressed creature in stiletto, black hose, and the ever-present mask of mystic and fantasy. A masquerade ball floats in my mind’s vision, lifting the spirit in this increasingly frightened world city. Yes, I feel like a horrible person. Being camp and playful amidst the depression. Ghoulish, you know. As if I am the grim reaper that others should avoid. And yet, I am too aware that the scythe-carrying one may harvest my head, along with many others, just for the exercise, the quota, the count, and the math. Still, what can I do? Oh, yes, I am supporting my wife who is organizing a concert with HK Phil. All the top officialdom will be invited (and they better show up, since the press will be there). The theme is 'life must go on' or a variation thereof. The proceeds will be donated to the medical workers via as yet to be worked out channel. I feel slightly better now, more human. Chugs, Jay
