The U.S. government might not have been behind the 9/11 attacks, but they sure as hell hardly did anything to prevent them and once the attacks were underway, our government's response was underwhelming to say the least.

Bush nodded and continued reading to schoolchildren. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld worked in his office. The head of the Joints Chiefs of Staff General Myers met with Senator Max Cleland. ZZZZZZZ What the hell do we pay these people for? No jets were scrambled to defend DC, even though the WTC had been hit an hour earlier and plane that took off from DC had been hijacked over Ohio and had turned around towards DC.

I don't buy into the theories that the U.S. government was behind 9/11, but their response to it is certainly suspect. Many people from President Bush to his rich cronies in Defense establishment have benefitted greatly in the post 9/11 world.
