R.D,

It does indeed appear to me now that our foreign policy team may have underestimated the strength of the Shiite fundamentalists in Iraq. Although I supported this war once it started, I did express concern about a month ago whether the citizens of Iraq are capable of putting together and running a secular democracy. Now my concerns are growing. GST may actually be right about us being in a big mess there, and the bigger mess the more it would have helped to have U.N. backing. It is looking more and more like the end result of this action could be another anti-U.S. Islamic fundamentalist country, but it isn't over till its over. Hopefully it is still way too early to call.

Regards, Huey
