Actually Sun, your analysis is right on. One small point about "strategic mistake". Iran has indeed used the Palestine issue to attain influence on the arab street but its strategic interests lie elsewhere with US, Turkey and even Israel as you allude to earlier in your post. Or perhaps I am confusing support for palestine with terrorism as a means to that end. Your thoughts! mike

To the best of by knowledge the Crusaders never went anywhere near Persia.

Also wasn't the Persia area converted to Islam by the sword, so if anything the only Crusaders to visit Persia were the Arabs.

Do the Iranians these days study their own history, by their own history I mean Persia pre-Isalm? I would think that Persia with its non-Arab heritage would be more tolerant of other religions.
