Hi Raymond -- here is the link I found with a lot of details. cooperativeresearch.org I think the jets scrambled out of Otis AFB which is near South of Boston, near Cape Code -- 150 miles from NYC. Much closer than Andrews with less congestion. The link I posted shows that coordinated response to the hijackings was not stellar, but sadly, 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there add up. But the record also shows that things were happening every few minutes by the NORAD and the FAA trying to figure out what they were dealing with. Remember there was some "needle in the haystack" stuff going on with pandemonium occuring at the same time. In the case of Andrews AFB, the 2 jets normally on duty were doing a training run over North Carolina. And I thought some hell WAS raised for how long it took to get jets from Langley to respond in their place. Chris
