The tactic of answering with lengthy posts and longer assumptions does not make one more knowledgeable.

I didn't realize the length of my posts were disturbing to you :-)

I take it you don't think Saddam was a huge threat to his own people

Of course he was. He was no threat to THE WORLD, which, I believe was the excuse used for the invasion.

I also take it you think that he was no threat to Kuwait or Jordan

Yes he was, at one point. Then he learned his lesson and did not aggress any of his neighbours in the past decade. He was no threat to the world in the year 2003, when the US/UK invaded Iraq.

Re whether Saddam was a threat to his neighbours - You may have noticed the lack of enthusiasm (downright hostility to, in some cases) for the US invasion of Iraq among its neighbours. Why do you think that is? Does that not contradict your conviction that Saddam was a threat to the world, especially to his neighbours?

Nobody is saying Saddam is a good guy, or that he was good for his people & the world. The point here is whether or not he was a threat to the world. He was not. He was weak and cornered. He knew the world would be upon him if he so much as looked nastily towards any of his neighbours. He was not a threat.

Then comes the fact that Saddam was a nasty character, and a brutal dictator. In that category, unfortunately, he is not alone. And I don't see the US/UK preparing to rid the world of ALL the dictators of the world, least of all the that dictator with the bad hair peace in Afghanistan, not to mention the House of Saud. Therefore, the invasion was not because Saddam was a nasty character and a brutal dictator, as Fox TV might have us believe.

Have you honestly studied any of his biographies?

Yes, and of course his biographies are completely irrelevant to the issue of whether or not he was a threat to the world at around the time Bush made it clear he would invade Iraq and nobody was gonna change his mind about it.
