I've thought of that...I think in consideration is how much he'll be angry at Bush vs how much he values his political future. All things being what they are today, he will do as you have suggested. But if they really piss him off, he could resign before the elections as a vote of no confidence.

We both know it's "when," not "if", don't we? :>) I was casting about for a replacement yesterday. No one came to mind. But I think he will be out. His wife is ill, and wants him out of the Public life.
