Pat, it's a standard rhetorical cop-out; if you can't match an opponent's arguments on their terms, paint them as supporting an extreme position that is obviously wrong. Just like someone did here saying that moderates support extremists if they aren't arguing with those extremists.

Someone else here asked what a moderate position would be on Iraq. They claimed there was none, so it's invade Iraq or you support Saddam.

Horseshit.

Lame, loser tactics for those who just want to "prove" themselves right in their mind. First sign of rampant insecurity, but that's another issue.

I don't know any person who was against the war and was a "Saddam supporter". I am sure somewhere there were Saddam supporters, but I never met one anywhere I have been.

It's such a silly thing to say, it can make you feel ever so much better about being in the opposition. It's always nice when people you disagree with, say absolutely ridiculous things. It always makes me feel that much better about my position- who'd want to agree with people who can believe and utter such foolishness?

Bush is a fundamentalist Christian and we all know how they feel about
gays..........it ain't pretty!!

Which is much a stereotype against fundamentalist Christians as your apparent perception of their attitude toward gays is.

If you don't like stereotyping in others, don't to it yourself.

If you approve of it in yourself, don't complain about it in others.

Moderation. After all, that's the name of this forum.
