How many high school graduates do you who can string together a coherent paragraph in the language they "learned" by July 4 after they graduate?

And of those who still can, very few ever use it, so the ability vanishes quickly.

Think about all the people you know from 18-45. How many can have a basic conversation with a native in the language they studied?

Not many, from my experience.

2 years, beginning in high school, is ZILCH. Compared to what other countries give their students, it is pathetic.
