Perhaps not all fundamentalists are bigoted but I haven't met one yet that isn't. Doesn't
mean that out there somewhere on this planet there are Fundamentalists Christians that
are accepting of gays..............I just haven't run into him or her yet.

But to go from the fact that you haven't met one who isn't bigoted -- and I won't get into whether that says more about you than about them, but for sure you don't have the character of Will Rogers -- to the assumption that all of them are is the very definition of prejudice -- pre judging. That's the root of the term. To pre judge people on the basis of some you have known.

In my case, I've never been mugged by a white person but have been mugged by blacks, several times. But I don't assume that all muggers are black, even though that has been my personal experience.

IMO, it is better to judge people for who they are, not assume that because they are, say, democrats they are all frantic to tax every penny out of our pockets or to assume that because they are, say, republicans they are all in cahoots to strip welfare from every poor person.

Stereotyping and prejudice are what they are. If that's what you choose to practice, that's your right. But you shouldn't pretend otherwise.
