<<If I had my way, we would bring ALL our troops home. No foreign based troops. Let the rest of the world take care of itself. Use our military to guard out borders and defend outselves. Period.>>

Jeeesus Keerist, why did it take all these years for me and you to agree on something... <g> ..

For, I think isolationism is the best of all, for all, if all is learn to:

"Live and let live" But to reach that level,
We have to learn OF all of others... And from that..

We LEARN "to live and let live, because of their differences...

Right now, we are learning of more cultures, we might visit..

Christopher, I have some of these same thoughts, believe it or not. Some friends and I were talking - and we wondered
if only WWII could be thought of as a legitimate use of
force by the US in the last century..

How would we, and the world, be different, if we had not
intervened in Vietnam, Korea, the Gulf, etc. (Or helped
overthrow such countries as Iran and Chile..)

Now, the Cold War was different too, and we had a threat
to our existence there also..

I also agree that when attacked, we should be ruthless. Many pure liberals would likely find my views here surprising. IMO, we did not apply enough force to deal with
Al-Qaeda, partly because we were afraid of our own troop losses on the ground, or of offending Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, our two authoritarian buddies now.
