Does it not seem to you that ideas of liberty and freedom under this administration are contracting, just as they are expanding elsewhere in the world (and I certainly don't mean Iraq, since I don't think we could handle real freedom there- the US would not like what free choice in Iraq would end up looking like). It's funny, but I think many other countries have a better grasp of what the US ought to be about, according to our history and our ideals, than we do. Of course war, even a puny pathetic poor excuse for a war like Iraq, always brings out the fascism in our country. The rabid and reactionary stuck at home during war always take war as an excuse to go hunt their fellow Americans, probably since they can't join the festivities over seas. Perhaps this is just a blip on the road to greater freedom and tolerance. I certainly hope so.

The end of democracy is only in sight when people stop protesting its
deterioration and undermining by those who would twist it for their own
purposes.

Are you sure that's what you wanted to say?
