Karen,
As a boomer it is hard for me to believe that post 1945, there wasnt reason for the US military to be more cautious. Actually i agree with Sun here. I am always shocked when watching those documentaries and sometimes i do buy into the theory that military was using human guinea pigs to learn from. Can take the guy out of the sixties but never take the sixties out of the guy, i guess. In my new reborn neocon state, i certainly do hope i am wrong but IKES fairwell speech warning of the military industrial complex followed by vietnam which showed just how feckless our political leaders had become make be forever a skeptic. mike

How does this change anything? This whole discussion started with me pointing out the woefully wrong instructions to the public and to the soldiers on dangers of radiation. I actually said that if you believe in government, you will say that it was lack of knowledge and if you don't you will believe more sinister motives. Either way, it does not change the facts.
