Skeeter,

Frankly we've become a "junk food"/"instant gratification" society and the PUBS know it. People are not interested in educating themselves on the issues -- especially the disenfranchsied who work 16 hour days and don't have time to take a piss -- never mind figuring out the spin of the media etc...

Its become way too easy to play on people's emotions & misinterpretations of life. Unfortunately, now both sides are playing the game. Its homogenized politics -- complete polarity. No "grey-area" discussion.

Look how the GOP used people's impatience during the 2000 Florida election. A day or two after the controversy had just started -- "they were out saying this whole mess should be over by now." "This is embarrassing blah, blah, blah...

Far too many Americans want change -- but NO pain. There is also a growing isolationist mentality of consumption-driven politics -- meaning "screw Europe, Asia or whomever" -- if they don't like us driving gas-gussling SUVs then "fuck em'".

Yeah, that's right! Look at the Hunt Bros. we taxpayers had to bail them out of their silver debacle in the early 80's. And do you think the superrich who lost all their money at LongTerm Capital Group had to fret over those losses. NOPE. We the taxpayers got to give them back all their money...BUT Who is bailing us out of the Bush years? or for that matter the Bush war. The companies that got the contracts in Iraq actually want tax incentives because they're over there!!! talk about piling windfall on ill-gotten gains...it's despicable I'm telling ya, despicable. And just where are those multi-millions of dollars the soldiers found going to end up, eh? For years there's been no accountability, brought to a penultimate height during Bush's term, but the ultimate is this war, the looting, stealing, destruction of lives and history. And for what? NO wmds are found, but heck, who cares. No one can remember what this war was about anyway.
