Bush, like his old man & under advice from the likes of Karl Rove, is hoping to use the consistent and constant drumbeat/distraction of foreign affairs to win himself a second term in 2004.

His DNA apparently has him hard wired to ignore domestic issues like HEALTHCARE, SOCIAL SECURITY, EDUCATION, and the general state of our ECONOMY.

With a few rare exceptions in the past -- this approach never truly worked (although both sides of the aisle have tried.)

Fact is -- the vast majority of people, and somewhat selfishly/unfortunately (and most especially Americans) -- vote with their pocketbooks.

Bushs offer of disproportionate tax cuts for a select few in our society will not do the trick; and most modern day moderates/progressives demand and expect a balanced budget (or something close to it.)

The days of deficit spending are no longer acceptable.

...America has matured and grown tired of seeing their hard earned tax dollars being eaten up by payments (interest) on government borrowings. The idea of operating with $.80 cents on the dollar before we even get out of bed in the morning is not very motivating and disheartening/unnecessary.

The Arabs, Germans, and whomever else that collects these hundreds of billions in interest payments -- will spend their US Treasury income in their own countries -- and rarely back here in the USA.

So -- since the GOP is scared stiff of talking about domestic issues these days (at least in detail) -- I've figured I get something going here to help keep them honest.

Hope you'll join in! Your two cents is most welcome.

Jack
