Re: Does anyone have the info about how the 'Floridalization' of the other states is moving along?

Here in Oregon, we have a scurrilous and deceitful talk show host on the right wing talk radio stations by the name of Lars Larsen who is trying to bring easily rigged, "proprietary software" controlled voting machines to the state to replace our wonderful vote-by-mail system.

Disingenuously, Larsen claims that our current system is too prone to vote fraud, and that electronic means will save us.

He never ever mentions the tons of data around that electronic voting devices are frauds in the waiting.

Greg Palast pointed out several problems with electronic voting in "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy". Also, there's plenty of dirt on his website:

In particular, here's a couple recent articles:

Last November, observers in Georgia were amazed that Saxby Chambliss had "won" over triple-amputee Max Cleland for the U.S. Senate. Exit polls clearly showed Cleland carrying the election. Most voting was done electronically.

Interestingly, the US Supreme Court has ruled that the software that runs electronic voting devices is "proprietary" and no public FOIA requests can be honored to see inside these black boxes. Sen. Chuck Hagel (R. Neb.) happens to have a financial interest as shareholder and board of directors member of one of the largest electronic voting device companies in the country.

You do the math. <ng>
