Altern8...yes Cabletron

I was there from 85 to 98....from about 4 million per year to about 1.4 billion...quite a ride....we actually had a chance to buy csco's technology ie. IGRP at one point in 86/87....oops.

They did/do have good products but rarely ever led the performance battles etc. .. Oh well, water under the bridge. The point is that in the early days of a technology market my experience was that the market share leader assuming good management (and CSCO had/has that) will nake it very difficult if not impossible for the other players to participate.

One of the specific points about CSCO and IGRP etc. was that they became the defacto standard. If you decided to get in the router market as an example your user interface better look like CSCO or customers wouldn't even bother because it was to expensive to train and maintain unlike equipment. blah, blah , blah...hahahaha

Anyway I think you get the point. We all made alot of money while competing with the big dog.....it's that eventually they ate us for lunch....Same can happen with SIRI and XMSR...money to be made as it seems we all agree (yes, you and David as well) that this technology and it's products have a future.

Be well,

Mike
