I gather you've decided you can't find a reliable context for that last quote so you dig up all the old stuff. No one, least of all me, is arguing about Byrd's past. It's well known. I gather the point of the right wing's aggravation was that they felt what Byrd said recently was at least the equivalent of Lott's transgression. I'm only saying I would need to read the context, as reported by a reliable source, before I could come to some conclusion of my own. If that's what you are taunting me about.

As for Lott, we need not think his undoing reflected noble motives from the Reps. If ever there were a case of mixed motives, that was one.
