There has been no stopping it now either. In Philippines and Indonesia political movements are guising themselves in religious clothing. Should the Islamists prevail in Africa, you can be sure that the version of Islam that will be spread, will be that of the dominant ruling clan. This is also what happened in Saudi Arabia.

Now this I'd like to hear about. As much as I'd love for this to be the case, I have a hard time believing that given all the militant, Sunni, Shia, Hindu, Christian, etc. groups. If anything organized religion has been having a massive revival over the past 20 years. Even Tibetan resistance is religious in its organization.
