Most of the fans up this way wish that there was an eastern (northeastern) conference that included 12 major football and basketball schools.

The basketball only (schools) part of the Big East is seen as detrimental to the football and basketball Big East schools. Most feel that the basketball portion of the BE is too big. Old home and away rivalries have become watered down. Most see the Big East as a fragmented and dying conference.

Notre Dame insists on maintaining their football independence and it's hard to blame them considering the dollars that their FB program brings in.

The ACC with Miami would probably result in SU also going ACC. Not a lot of consensual love for the ACC in SU territory...most think that the ACC is not superior football-wise to the Big East...and as far as basketball, diehard bigeasters don't see it as a step up.<g>

There's probably just as much or little enthusiasm for SU going to the Big 10 (11)

Most of the SU fans that I know say that they would feel bad for UConn being left out in the cold. Also Pitt and W.Virginia get some sympathy. VT doesn't get a lot of sympathy around here. Most feel that they should try to get into the SEC.

The standing joke in this part of the country is that Missouri should join the Big 10 and SU would take their place in the Big 12...since we basically own that conference as far as basketball goes.<g> (for those of you who don't remember..we beat Missouri in the regular season and then beat OK State..Texas...Oklahoma and Kansas in the NCCA tourney)

One of the "Freshman" star(s)...we had a couple of others. And some sophs. I'm not predicting any dynasty but we did have a reasonable shot at two in a row if one of those freshman had decided to stay another year. It wasn't a surprise.
