the russians were brutal to the baltic republics and several others, in very much the same degree as the US used the Batistas and Somozas to spread their terror in their 'sphere of influence'

No, the Russians did it to a lesser degree. And you know better than to lie about this.

'Would the U.S. have permitted the Soviet Union to do to us what we do to Cuba?'

I read this six times now, and still am unsure exactly what you mean ..

It really was a simple question. I can't fathom anyone not understanding it. Would the U.S. have permitted the Soviets to arm and fund an invasion of the U.S.? Would the U.S. have allowed the Soviets to have "Overthrow Congress" rallies inside the U.S.? The answer is "No". Heck, if the Soviets sponsored anti-government rallies in Nicaragua, that would bring a military response (and the Soviets never did). The fact remains that Cuba's recent crackdown fell within the framework of U.S. law.

But, that is not the issue I raised. The issue I raised was the remarkable anti-Cuban bias of the American media.
