People do still consider themselves to Muslim or Jew or Christian first and Sunni, Shia, Orthodox, Lutheran, etc second. Each of these sects considers itself to be true religion. That is they do not believe they ceased to be Christian or that their version is not what Jesus had intended for them. > E.T.'s examples are very illustrative, imho, and are much better examples of changes in religion Good. Then take those if you prefer. > You are out of the realm of scientific knowledge with this statement, unless you know of a very recent study that concludes DNA "lives". Sometimes I wonder if you go out of your way to misread the intent. In asmuch as DNA is the description of an organism and that DNA is used to creat a living organism, then the originating living organism is part of you. This is akin to saying that your parents continue to live as part of you. After all, this is the whole point of reproduction. Similarly, one can claim that Judaeism in some form lives inside Christianity because Christianity accepted the Old Testament and incorporated a lot of Jewish concepts. > "Melat" doesn't have much of a religious undertone, but I don't know what the origins are that you are speaking of... Only recently that has been the case. You need to read Koran to see it used in that context. Actually, reading some of the religious or Sufi writings which came much later also yield the same conclusion. But you need to do your own reading here. I don't have time for finding you the links. > Do you think these changes were in relation to any historical event in particular? The researcher I quoted you seems to think so, and so do I. You may find more answers when you read my (very long) answer to Brumar. ST
