Sun,
Where is communism spreading? NK is a stalinist left over, an anachronism, an exeption that proves the rule. What Hagar, Hawk and I have suggested is that the korean trip wire is much like our old nuclear tipped missiles were in Turkey in 1962--expendable as part of a deal that saved face for an opponent to attain major US national interest;in this case at a minimum a no-sale guarantee from NK, or better a committment also not to add to nukes and better yet still, denuking of the entire korean peninsula. mike

I wonder if with the fall of Soviet Union and the transformation of China, it is still as important to oppose the spread of communism in smaller countries.

South America seems to be the only place where it still has a foothold. Chavez in Venezula looks like a good example of "One election, one vote, one time," trying to happen. As long as we have that bearded bastard setting in Havana making mischief in central America, we are going to have to oppose it. It just makes the misery down there that much worse, IMO.
