Let's give 'em Miami and take Maryland in exchange...

That would mean goodbye to the automatic BCS bid.

I know the above ain't happening, but I'd love to see the BE take the offensive on this situation. This has gotten so much press the last two weeks, that I think something - even if Miami stays, is going to happen - maybe the FB and BB schools in the BE will go their separate ways, which would be a shame b/c I think the old battles at MSG between G'Town, Syracuse, St. John's and 'Nova were classics.

I think that is the best possible scenario left for the Big East. The football schools will have to say goodbye to the basketball-only schools. This may be what Miami is doing - making demands to break away from Gtown, Providence, Seton Hall et al. This would be a very good thing though because it would give us 9 football/basketball schools through which we could grow to 12. Mike Tranghese needs to come through big time. I have little faith in him to do so, because he is an old-fashioned idiot. Frankly, if the numbers work out right, that is Miami's best bet to get to the BCS. Not through FSU.

And this is all being done for Miami. They are the 800 lb gorilla.

It's hard to believe that the future of my school's football program rests on a decision by Donna Shalala.
