Well it was Smith's vision that got the Goldstrike property going. He was the guy who could see it was a viable driller that would connect the dots and make the Mercur a large open pit. Without that, they were nothing, Hotels and Camflo notwithstanding.

This is not very flattering, and I find it kind of amusing, but it does serve to underscore the political connections that may be necessary these days to shake the money out of the tree. I once worked for a company that had Kashoggi on the board.
