Ray, It We they are much the same thing when viewed from the perspective of the individual. Ted Kaczynski saw it coming [though he wasn't thing so specifically of It as the human-industrial machine].

Humans are not the end-state of consciousness or biological development. We are a little bunch of DNA on an eons-long journey with hairy chimpoid antecedents not much different from us as a casual inspection of Bonobos in San Diego zoo would show.

We and cyberspace will beat King George II, no trouble. Old-style political empires have had their day. The generals are fighting 19th century battles and the politicians doing the same.

They are barely aware of the burgeoning threat surrounding them. In fact, I'd say they are unaware of it.
