I seem to remember Jefferson was fairly liberal when it came to the education of women. Many of our founding fathers were. It is too bad that Adams ignored his wife when she urged him most firmly not to forget the ladies when they were working on the rights of Americans. Of course perhaps it was a political expedient to leave the ladies out- I suppose it is possible that the revolution would have lost support if it was too radical a revolution.
