This may sound strange, but the final reward is that you will cease to exist. This is to say you will achieve Nirvana where you are one with the universe and as such you are in perfect harmony. Of course it also means that "you" as in an ego that wants things and therefore suffers when it does not get them will no longer exist. In short, you will be beyond such mundane needs or concerns.

I forgot to mention, Buddhism is different in the sense that Buddha had no interest in preaching and calling the people to his way. It was the people who had known him that noticed a huge change in him and wanted to know. On numerous occasions he pointed out that he neither wished the leadership nor desired some organization to continue his path. So to ask what is the final reward, is not quite the right question. In Buddhism you get a good chunk of your reward right here and now. Your reward manifests itself among other things, in prevention of depression, anger, envy, and so on. It brings you calm and clarity of mind. Most Buddhist schools believe that you can continue this progress into subsequent cycles of life and death. And that if you do it right, each future life will be a happier one than the one before. But strictly speaking that is not the only possible interpretation. For many people, having a peaceful mind is plenty of reward.
