> Life isn't fair. The same rules don't apppy to the USA as apply to other countries.

This is in fact the source of the problem. Other people will not submit or get used to it. You seem to think the problem is that some country may choose to attack US. This is not going to happen. But segments of various populations from various countries may very well decide to attack American interests. Who are you going to bomb? The governments that are as much against those groups as you are? The civilian population? Further resistance will show up in the form of all the little things that can make life miserable for us but are not war acts. You saw the smallest measure of that in the form of UNSC fiasco. There are other forms.

I think it was JP Morgan (or some other rich fellow) who decided to buy out the whole market and prevent the crash of 1929. He failed miserably. People who think just because we have the biggest guns we can whatever we want to the world will some day find themselves as old JP did.

Guns give you the power to destroy. But unless you intend to live amidst ruins, you need something else for a happy life.

<the sounds of MOABs falling on the perpetrators>

Suppose, tomorrow, a nuclear weapon, from an unknown source, explodes in Los Angeles. And an anonymous but credible message tells us, such attacks will continue, until all U.S. soldiers are withdrawn from all Muslim nations. Where are you going to drop the MOABs? Can't carpet-bomb everything from Morrocco to Indonesia. Even if you could, maybe the terrorists live in Detroit. Or Paris. Or, if not a nuclear weapon, then a dirty bomb, or chemical or biological weapon, take your pick.

The lesson our enemies learn, from Iraq, may not be the ones you want them to learn.

I see the U.S., at about the same place France was under Napolean, in about 1809. We are triumphant, exultant, victorious, violent. Firmly convinced of our inherent and permanent superiority. Force worked, so we'll keep doing what works.
