The point is its not possible to know what is the right action until after the fact,

Regardless of what the right or wrong action was, the Fed had the responsibility to do objective research into the issue before acting. As readily available as the facts were, it goes beyond irresponsible for the Fed to have used Y2K as a reason for pumping money into the system.

And if someone like me can get the information with little effort, the Fed and the gov't doesn't have any excuse for being misinformed.
