Thanks for the New Republic article, Steven. I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion from the Bush people about precisely this danger, armed factions engaged in civil war. It was certainly discussed in the runup.

That's the answer to those that say that Iraq needs fewer peacekeepers proportionally compared to the Balkans, since there is no Iraqi civil war. Those that claimed that Saddam's terror was keeping civil war from breaking up may have been right.
